Instagram can be a key marketing tool for companies with strong visual content.
Instagram can be a powerful marketing tool for many new companies. Luckily for starters like you, Instagram makes it easy to set up a new account for your business. Here are the basics of the process, along with helpful tips for getting the most out of your Instagram account:
  1. Head over to and click “Sign Up”. If you already have a personal Instagram account, you’ll need to sign out first.
  2. In the appropriate boxes, enter your company email address, the company’s full name, a username, and a strong password, then click “Sign up”. Keep in mind that the username you choose will be your company’s “handle” on Instagram and show up in your profile and in all of your posts & stories). Need help finding the right Instagram username/handle? Startomatic has a Starter Tool for that!
  3. Enter your birthday, complete the Captcha if necessary, and retrieve and enter the Confirmation Code that Instagram will email to the company email address you provided, then click “Next” and approve the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use if asked.
  4. Important! Once you’ve confirmed your account, it is live, but don’t stop there! To start taking advantage of the credibility-building and marketing power of Instagram, you need to do some more profile building. Head over to the profile page to upload your business’s logo as the profile picture and a bio. Be sure your business bio is consistent with your company’s brand, and try to show off the most exciting or attention-grabbing part of your business. We’d recommend that you keep your bio pretty consistent across all your social media platforms. This helps build brand identity and customer confidence. (Related: need help getting a company logo? 5. Go ahead and follow any accounts that fit with your business or industry - the more accounts you follow, the more likely you are to get followed back - and building your audience is the name of the game here! (Don’t forget to follow Startomatic!)
  6. POST! Make your first tweet something powerful - it should be different from your bio and should be topical, like the dates of your grand opening, or a link to your company’s new website, or anything else that is on-brand and attention grabbing. You should “pin” this tweet to the top of your profile (click the “v” symbol in the top right, then “Pin to your profile”)

That’s it - you’re ready to go! Looking for guidance on how to make your business pop on Instagram? Check out their guide on this exact topic, here!
